Horror Features
All features will be considered in the same category. This is for all works that have a runtime of 75 minutes or more.
Short Film Categories
We have two main goals in our short film categories. First, we want to recognize, screen, and award up-and-coming horror filmmakers. We want to package distributable shorts from our program into feature-length anthologies.
We discourage submitting to multiple categories. If you are unsure what category your film fits best, please submit to the Free For All Category.
Creature
Do you have a short film we can sink our teeth into? This category is for short films where terrifying and otherworldly creatures take center stage. From ancient beasts to mutated monstrosities show us how you bring these nightmares to life!
Slasher
Is your film a cut above the rest? Here we’ll showcase the realm of relentless killers and blood-soaked suspense. The Slasher category is to highlight your short film featuring frighteningly creative killers.
Found Footage
Does your film blur the lines between reality and fiction? This category is for films shot as if capturing non-fiction events, showing these through creative filming techniques or gruesome discovery.
Sci-Fi
For films exploring future filled with terror or the dark aspects of technology. We want to see extraterrestrial encounters, experiments gone awry, or any other fusion of horror and Science Fiction.
Demons & Myths
These films pit mere mortals against malevolent entities, ancient curses, and terrifying forces from beyond. Show us your best ancient legends and dark folklore.
Last Girl
Give us your sole survivors and femmes of fright! This is for all women-centered short horror films. We want to see resilient and resourceful female protagonists (or villains) take the lead.
Thriller
These films delve into the human psyche, blurring the line between reality and delusion with mind-bending plots and suspense that keeps you guessing.
Gorefest
These films are a blood soaked celebration of practical effects on screen.
Horror Parody & Satire
Whether it's dark humor or absurd antics these films will unearth the most devilish laughs. We want your satire on horror tropes, murderously dark jokes, and comedy horror.
Free For All
Not sure where your film fits? Have a genre-defying story taking us on a journey through uncharted territory? This category is for mind bending narratives, avante-garde experiments, and anything that defies conventions and perceptions of what cinema could be.
Ghost Stories
In this spectral section of our festival, we summon the chilling and mysterious world of apparitions, phantoms, and haunted realms. These films will unravel stories of restless spirits, haunted houses, and the stories that bind the living and the dead.
Zombies & Other Apocalypses
This Category plunges you into a post-apocalyptic hellscape where humanity faces its darkest hours. Whether it’s relentless hordes of the undead or cataclysmic disasters of epic proportions, this category is for films taking us through the end of days.
